Average Conversion Rate (ACR) measures the percentage of visitors to your online store who complete a purchase.
It’s calculated using the formula:
For example, if you had 5,000 visitors and 150 orders in a month, your conversion rate would be 3%.
Average Conversion Rate is one of the most crucial metrics for any e-commerce business. It directly reflects how effectively your website turns visitors into paying customers.
Key reasons ACR matters:
Sales Efficiency: Higher conversion rates mean better sales outcomes from the same amount of traffic.
Marketing ROI: You make better use of advertising and promotional budgets when more visitors convert.
Customer Experience: Strong ACRs suggest your website experience, product offering, and checkout process are meeting customer expectations.
Growth Insights: Changes in ACR help highlight if website updates, marketing campaigns, or product changes are effective.
Tracking and optimising your ACR allows you to:
Grow sales without increasing marketing spend.
Detect bottlenecks or issues in your purchasing funnel.
Tailor your promotions and web design to better convert customers.
Set realistic performance goals based on customer engagement trends.
To simplify things, the app automatically provides an industry benchmark for your Average Conversion Rate.
However, you can adjust this benchmark in your settings to better reflect your business goals or changes in your operations.
Important:
To calculate your Average Conversion Rate accurately, the app needs access to your website session data from Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
Without connecting to GA4, ACR calculations will be unavailable.
Follow these steps to review or adjust your Average Conversion Rate target:
Navigate to Your Dashboard:
Log into the app and access your main dashboard.
Go to Settings:
Click on the Settings option in the left-hand navigation panel.
Select Organisation Configs:
Under Settings, select Organisation Configs.
Configure Monthly Configs:
Click on Configure Monthly Configs.
Adjust Your ACR Benchmark:
Find the field for Average Conversion Rate.
A default benchmark (e.g., 2%) will be pre-filled.
Update this value if you wish to set a new internal target.
Save your changes.
Once configured, your dashboard will automatically compare your real conversion rate performance against the target and surface key insights.
Tip: We recommend connecting your GA4 account during your initial app setup to avoid missing critical engagement metrics like Conversion Rate, Bounce Rate, and Session Duration.
